Solar Water Heater

A solar water heater is an energy efficient way of providing hot water to the home. They provide for water heating needs through the use of solar thermal energy, as opposed to city power. As a result, there is not cost for the heating which they provide.

The system of a solar water heater is comprised of collectors and a tank. These systems may be either active or passive. The active styles have pumps and controls which manage circulations. The passive ones do not have such mechanical aspects.

The tank of a solar water heater is generally well-insulated. They exist in either one-tank or two-tank systems. A one-tank option will have the solar storage combined with a back-up heater. The two-tank style will preheat the water before sending it to a conventional water heater.
