Green Design

Green design is another term for sustainable design. There are many other phrases which may be applied to this concept. They include environmental, environmentally-conscious, and environmentally sustainable design. That final example is often abbreviated to ESD.

The concept of green design is that its aspects are sustainable on a few different levels. These include economic, social, and ecological levels. There are many areas which fall under this category. Physical objects, buildings and services are some broad categories to cover these areas.

Green design is focused on eliminating negative effects on the environment. Not encouraging a harmful excess of greenhouse gases is just one aspect of this. Others include the use of renewable materials and the promotion of human health. Human health is encouraged both by keeping harmful materials out of the home as well as reconnecting people with the natural environment.
