Energy Efficient Bulbs

Energy efficient bulbs are usually of the CFL variety. This stands for compact fluorescent light bulb. These designs have a lot to offer over the traditional incandescent types.

For instance, energy efficient bulbs use only a quarter of the energy that incandescent types do. In addition to this, they last around ten times longer! As a result, a single CFL bulb can be expected to provide about $30 worth of savings over its lifespan.

Energy efficient bulbs are most widely recognized by their Energy Star label. Bulbs which meet these lighting standards have had a lot of studies done around them. One intriguing figure result from such study is the amount that would be saved if everyone home in the U.S. simply replaced one standard bulb with a CFL one. If this were to happen, more than $600 million in annual energy costs would be reaped.
