Energy Efficient Appliances

Energy efficient appliances are designed to supply the same level of service as standard options. However, they do so while requiring much less in terms of power. This can result in significant energy savings. In addition to saving money, it also works to save the environment.

Many different energy efficient appliances can be recognized by the Energy Star label. This blue label acknowledges that the product has met the international standard originally set up in 1992 by the United States Environment Protection Agency. On average, these devices provide savings ranging from twenty to thirty percent.

There are many practices used to compliment energy efficient appliances. In addition to having something optimized as far as its power use goes, a person can also use the item in such a way to reduce its energy use also. For instance, unplugging products when they are not in use can reduce instances of standby power or "vampire power."
